I waited for the time to be over,
but realized I couldn't see a clock
and even if I could,
I wouldn't be able to read it.
Staring out the window, longing with my
eyes for another being to pass by
a thing to jump down from this perch for
to bark at and work my back fur into a
mohawk.
I waited for the sun to move on,
but noticed that it was behind a cloud
and even if it wasn't,
I wouldn't know the name of such things.
Sighing, yawning, stretching, I
though about what it would be like
to have my belly scratched and a
nice warm plate to clean with my tongue.
As I waited for the time to be over,
it occured to me that I have no
sense of time, only a keen sense of smell
and for that I feel
forever young.
